Everything Comes to an End (@freshlyharvestedpine, semi-open)
It had taken a bit longer than either she or Northa had anticipated- even though they were fighting a losing battle and knew it, it would seem that the Dreamcatchers refused to allow the Dreamplane to be completley taken over by the replica of the Tree of Sorrow, some of them fighting to their very last in order to ensure that this wouldn’t happen.
However, that wouldn’t suffice. The more time the other side had, the more they would be able to rally together. They had to keep pushing against them and keep the pressure on- only to let it up slightly to crush their hope all the harder.
So Pine had personally taken care of the last few members of the Dreamcatcher vanguard that had decided to give their lives to destroy the Tree of Sorrow. Of the two things they set out to do, they only accomplished one-
"That’s right!" Pine grinned, cupping her hands to her ears, hearing the panic and the chaos from the city below. “Louder! Much, much louder!”
Screams, the sound of running feet, crying and wailing from adults and children alike. Smoke, rising to the heavens, from where people driving cars hadn’t been able to avoid pieces of the sky itself that rained down as it shattered to allow way for the Tree of Sorrow’s roots to emerge.
It was a truly wonderful sight, Lady Northa would be most pleased.
Her eyes narrowed a little as she gazed down at the town below, flashes of light appearing in the darkness. “There’s more of them, huh. What a pain.” Stretching out her arms in front of her, the vines hidden underneath her armwarmers crept out, twisting and curling into themselves, until four seeds formed in her hands.
"Sorewatase! Show yourselves!" Pine called out, hurling the four seeds down into different sections of the city. “It’s no good if we just let the Nightmares have all the fun!”
[In the chaos, they’d decided to stick together, Sol guiding panicked citygoers away while Luna went on the offensive. But there just wasn’t an end to it, especially when the roots drove in, through buildings and cars and even people to plant deep into the earth’s surface and take root.
Sol watched as a chunk of a building came hurtling down toward a group of people and though he’d cleaved the rock straight in two, it wasn’t enough. Someone screamed as their leg was crushed under the rubble, could only cry out in agony as a Nightmare pounced at them, devouring them whole.
And then, a small seed came hurtling toward them, burying itself into the earth before it sprang back, fully formed, concrete and debris flying in every direction. A decaying plant monster of vines and foliage, one that could have been beautiful with all the flowers decorating it, but instead it just terrorized the streets, crushing buildings and horrified townsfolk alike with impunity, before it whipped around and seized both Sol and Luna, flinging the two Dreamcatchers into the ground as hard as it could.
In three other parts of the city, three other Sorewatase rose and joined the chaos, spreading death and despair with every step, swallowing people whole to serve them up as offerings to the Tree of Despair…
Luna gasped in pain as she shakily rose to her feet, helping her brother do the same.]
"W-we can’t - we c-can’t let them win…"
[Sol nodded, gritted his teeth. Sword alight with flames, he charged at the Sorewatase and slashed, trying to at least get a decent cut into the monster. Behind him, Luna began a new assault on the Nightmares surrounding them -
- as much as they hated to admit it, the innocent townsfolk weren’t as much of a priority right now.]
